What is Iyengar Yoga?
Iyengar yoga is a method of Hatha Yoga developed over a period of 60 years by BKS Iyengar, one of the worlds most acclaimed yoga masters. The principles of movement are compatible with current developments in the field of physical therapy and alternative therapeutic bodywork disciplines. The Iyengar approach is marked by dynamism and precision and is unsurpassed as a way to build strength, stamina and flexibility while cultivating a sense of graceful peace and well-being.
Various props are used to maximize opening and awareness throughout the body and stimulate blood flow to the organs. Asanas (poses) are individualized to the needs of different bodies. Even if you have suffered recent injuries, this style of yoga practice can be tailored to meet your special needs.
